Dining Services utilizes local, organic and sustainably-produced food throughout campus. In 2007, 60% of the produce purchased was locally grown and 5% was organic. Caltech also exclusively offers fair-trade coffee.
Dining Services has replaced all styrofoam to-go containers with compostable cellulosic materials. Additionally, the cups and utensils are made from compostable corn based polymers.
